It was a bright beautiful spring day. I was going in for a routine ultrasound to check on Irelyn's CCAM and to see if we could possibly flip this very breach baby. The ultrasounds results shows that Irelyn was still breach and had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice! This made us all a little uncomfortable so we decided to do a amniocentesis to see if her lungs were mature enough to be born early. The test came back very good but my body didn't respond to a needle in my tummy very well and before I knew it I was in labor.

It was a exciting and scary surprise. I wasn't planning on having a baby this week. My mom kept teasing saying, "Sorry you couldn't schedule this in your planner." I was so scared that I was trying to figure out a way I could escape the hospital! But with a very special blessing, my nerves calmed down, my heart was at peace, and after 38 weeks I was finally ready to bring Irey into this world.

Via c-section, thanks to Dr. Jacob, Irey made it! There was a moment that got a little scary when the doctor couldn't get her head out, but finally he did and she gave us a good little cry. That little cry was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard! That little cry let me know I was officially a mommy. The waves of emotions after that are indescribable! Heaven was in the room and she was my angel. When Brandon brought her into see me after they checked and cleaned her, that will go down in the history books as the best moment of my life. I believe in love at first sight!
No one could get enough of her. She was such a calm and peaceful baby. Being the first Schroeppel granddaughter and the first Blackwell grandchild, she was plenty loved. From the second she was born she was so strong and the prettiest newborn I think any of those nurses seen because they made sure to check on her lots!

Irelyn stayed in our room with us all three nights we spent at the hospital. She was such a good little sleeper and her dad and I just loved to watch her sleep. Our lack of sleep was due to the fact we were so in love, we seriously could not stop starring at her!

I just can't say she was anything less then perfect. A good strong little nurser with a small appetite, we have to wake her up and remind her she is hungry. She came out already in love with a binky and when she was not eating she had her binky in place. Being such a little thing the nurses wanted to make sure that she was getting some food in her tummy and they would come in our room a wake both of us up so she could eat. I love my pediatrician Dr. Wynn, he says to never wake a sleeping baby, and I think that should go for the mommies too!

Brandon went home the night she was born to grab a couple things. He made sure you had a pretty bow for her hair and a bracelet for her wrist. She was all dolled up and really stood out in the nursery!

I have never seen a more proud and loving dad as I have watched Brandon. It's like falling in love all over again. Nothing could melt my heart more then to see the way her adores his girls. I am so thankful to him for his loving support. I know I am not strong enough to do this with out him and I am so thankful he was by my side. Irelyn and I are so very lucky to have him.

She was just how I dreamed she would be. I couldn't ask for anything better. Everyone she get one of these!
