NEW YORK!
I went to New York to visit my friend Jess for her birthday! I stayed in her cute apartment on the third floor. It is a work out walking up those steep narrow stairs and even a bigger workout trying to carry my 50 pound suitcase. But Jess is very use to it, as you can see.
I had my best laughs taking the subway... you meet New York's "finest" while riding. When we were tired from running around all day and feeling mellow we would perk right up when someone started singing or dancing or telling us their life story and asking for money! Nothing like free entertainment, oh and Jess's awesome moves as well!
My first night Jess and I went to Mama Mia! We had GREAT seats which always makes it better. We sang along and at the end they performed a few more songs kinda like a concert so everyone was standing up and dancing along and just having a good old time. It was kinda raining that first night so we took our umbrellas along with us, Jess's didn't hold up so well.
Later that night at like one in the morning we started doing some hair. Jess's awesome color didn't fit in the New York style so much so we toned it down and made her a really pretty golden blond. We had left over color so we put some in her roommates hair! We stayed up till 5 in the morning coloring hair and having some late night laughs... you know, the kind when you are so tired EVERYTHING is funny. Good times!
Day two consisted of a lot of shopping. Since we went to bed so late it was a late start in the morning. Since I have been to NY before I didn't want to do any of the tourist stuff so we took our time getting ready and just had a relaxing day of shopping. Although New York left me disappointed in the clothing department Jess and I did manage to find great shoes. I found two pair of boots that I loved and they both were such different styles that I couldn't decide so... I got them both. What is a girl suppose to do when in love with two pairs of shoes? Oh and Jess found a great book that highlighted the theme of her life with men.
One of the funnest things we did was just walk around the city and goof off. Jess and I are great at goofing off so we managed to have a lot of fun with that.
The third day was Jess's birthday. In the morning we went to get a mani/pedi. We went to this cute salon that was really nice and they did a great job! I wish I could have taken them home with me they were so awesome. It was so relaxing!
Afterwards we went to the MOMA (museum of modern art) and for the most part I just had a "what the heck?" look on my face the whole time but there were some funny and cool things. But I learned that the Met is more my style which is where we went on Sunday but alas, no pictures!
For the rest of the evening we watched chick flicks and had cookies and ice cream for Jess's big day, birthday song included of course!

When I got off the plane I had the two most amazing people waiting for me with roses and kisses. They were both glad to have mommy home!

Sometimes the best part about leaving to a new place is to remember why what you have at home is so special! It was really hard to leave my family and I missed them every second! They did a great job of making me feel missed while I was gone too!
When it was time for me to leave I think Jess had had all the partying she could take for one weekend with me and was ready to get back to normal life in her big city! Can't you tell?

Thanks Jess for having me over and making me feel at home in your big bad city. And thank you Brenda for watching my stinker of a daughter while I was aways. And big huge thanks to my wonderful husband who does a great job of making me feel spoiled and gave me a wonderful welcome home!
