I have started arranging decorations I already had with some new stuff to try to get things how I like them...
This is the wall in my family room. I had these shelves in my condo and loved them so I continued to use them in my house. It's just hard to figure out how to put together stuff you already had with new stuff and get the right look, ya know?
This is in my living room. Brandon's Aunt gave us that clock for our wedding and I have always loved it! It's huge and in my condo it was too big to put on the wall with anything next to it, it just seemed overwhelming in that small space. But in my house now, I have 9 ft ceilings so now I can put some frames around it and make it flow with out feeling overcrowded.
By the way, I love pictures and displaying them so 90% of my decor is pictures of my family... it may be annoying but for me it makes my house feel like home.

I love this picture and knew it needed to go someplace where it would be seen right off. The only problem is, my entry way doesn't have a lot of wall space BUT this picture all by it's self seems boring. My lovely sister Jamie helped me make I Believe In Christ on her cricket and now I feel like it added just a little something to make it not feel so boring.
This is on the landing of my staircase going up stairs. It was one of my mom's Christmas presents to me. Thanks Rod Works for your fantastic inspirations. Another way for me to display MORE pictures.
This is on my landing going downstairs into my salon, where there is zero pictures FYI ;). It's one of the first things my clients see before they go into my salon so I wanted it to be cute, but not overwhelming in such a small space but make it feel open and bright. Well, that mirror was my mom's like 15 years ago and it use to be gold, she gave it to me and I sprayed it silver and had it in my condo... then all my stuff went into storage for a year... then we moved and I pulled it out and thought, this looks dated, time for some more spray paint... And now it's black. I am glad I was able to re-purpose it because it's thick and big and beautiful and now it makes my landing look open and bright ;)
Speaking of re-purposing, I think I have gone through 6 cans of spray paint in the last two weeks...
I have all these frames you see, and now in the new space they don't all work together in the way I want them to... well spray paint this and that add a little this here and there... and BAM, you have a new wall arrangement.
Irey's room is a work in progress. I know the look I want, I just haven't found the bedding that isn't too much money but has the direction I want to take. BUT I just couldn't STAND looking at empty walls anymore! So what did I do? PICTURE FRAMES, are you getting sick of my obsession with pictures yet?
Any ways, the small pink frame use to be a distressed white color but I wanted a small pinch of pink and I wanted it to be glossy. Spray painted and BAM, a new frame in 15 min. The big frame use to be a dull brown and I wanted it to be a glossy white, some more spray paint and now I think they go together nice. Now I need to find a cute little birdcage type thing for Mr. Owl who is hanging out right there.
On her wall I again spray painted some old frames. The two smaller ones where from IKEA and we got them as a wedding gift. They were just really boring natural wood color but I liked the shape of them so I sprayed them the same glossy pink as the other frame. On the mats I added some little flowers with rhinestones to make them more unique.
The big frame in the middle was a unfinished frame I bought from Roberts a while ago. I have no idea what I intended to do with it but one night I found that I am a Child of God vinyl and thought to put it on the frame. I sprayed it the same glossy white as the other frame and added the vinyl. Now my only problem was I couldn't find a cute mat to go in it so I decided to make my own. I found some cute scrapbook paper and mounted my pics. It turned out fun for little Irey's room. I have a lot more ideas, but like I said, it's all a work in progress.
In my room I am having a hard time figuring out what I want to do with all the wall space other then doing pictures... shocking I know. But for now, I threw up some of the left over frames and called it good.
The frame on the bottom right I sprayed black. The frame on the top left I added a little metal plate that says cherish and put a cute small white flower next to it, just so it wasn't SO boring. The square frame in the middle wasn't a picture frame to start with but I found some 3X5 mats and put some scrapbook paper I liked in the middle to fill the space, as well as a little thing-a-majig that says family.
It's not super exciting but at least it's better then a bare wall with nothing.
I do have visions for things to come...
This is a little loft/sitting room/ bonus room whatever you want to call it, it's in my master bedroom. It's one of the things that made me fall in love with my house and I knew when we bought it that I would make it my own little something. So my plans...
That little chaise lounge you see a bit of... that was Grandma's chaise that she left to me after she died. It's my little piece of grandma Virgina. It's been pretty worn down and I want this chaise to last forever and become something I pass down to one of my granddaughters so I am going to have it reupholstered sometime this year. I am hoping that new fabric wont change the essence of Virgina in that chaise, so it will be extra hard picking out a fabric that still makes it feel like her.
On the other side of the wall where you see my pack n' play/changing table, yea that will be gone in a few months and hopefully for my bday or something I can get some white book shelves to go on either side of the wall and then a simple white desk to go in the middle.
Then I want to get a pretty but simple upholstered chair that sits at the desk.
That way I can have all my books (I just LOVE collecting books) on my shelves and do all my little crafty things at my desk. And then when I want to read my book I can sit on my grandma's chaise and just lounge in my little loft... a dream world I KNOW!
In the not too distant future I want to buy a new couch for my little family room. The furniture we bought was right after we got married and it worked great for my condo but for my house now, with the way the kitchen flows into the family room, I need a sectional to go along the wall my couch is now and the wall where the window is to open it up and make it flow better.
I saw this on KSL and thought it would be perfect if the chaise was on the other side AND if it was more chocolate brown rather then grey.
I just really want to open up that space and have more seating options. PLUS, I can move my current furniture into my living room, which has none, AND change the color scheme I got going on in my family room. I am sick of red and want to change directions... I am sensing a lot of spray paint ;)
The last little project I did was reupholster a lamp shade... random I know!
I loved the little lamp I used for Irey's nursery and wanted to use it for Reese's nursery but the shade just didn't match. I looked all over for one and just couldn't find what I wanted. Finally I just thought I would try and reupholster a shade that I already had but wasn't using. I cut out some fabric and a little hot glue and ribbon, BAM, a new lamp shade.
I may just be SO ghetto for all this re-purposing and spray painting I have been doing... but at least I have had fun doing it and my house is a little bit more the way I like it, but I still feel like I have a long way to go.
I know that some of you have been asking for pictures of my salon and nursery... I will post some this weekend I SWEAR! And I will explain WHY it had taken me 5 months;)

Can you PLEASE teach me your ways. You are so crafty and I LOVE everything you have done. Really, we need to set up something so you can come help me with my house!
ps. - I am the same way with photos.. I LOVE photos and have them EVERYWHERE.
I think it's great that you have found inexpensive ways to change things up, it inspires the rest of us. It's also nice to save money, especially when you're going to landscape. Good luck with all of that! I love seeing the pictures of your house, I need to see it in person sometime and see your adorable little girls!
I really love what you did with all the frames and how crafty you are. Literally I when I was walking through your house today w/ Kelly and Afton I said "Guys she made this frame." "She Painted this." "She made that." Goodness your amazing
Great job repurposing. I don't think it's ghetto at all. Also, if you want, I can help you make a quilt for Irey's room that does what you want it to. :)
