Um... Is there a Problem Officer?

Yes there was a problem... with the Officer who pulled me over. Repeat after me, POWER TRIP!

No, I am not one of those who hate on police officers. I am grateful for the service they give to our community, they are essential to society. That being said, sometimes I just don't like them. I don't really want to be insulting policemen because truly, I am grateful. But sometimes I wish they could just listen to some Bob Marley and CHILL.

So this evening I was getting on the freeway at the 1600 North on ramp. Signaled got into the first lane... people are slow... signaled and got into the second lane. I was trying to get up to speed so I could enter in the fast lane and I was waiting for a break in traffic so I could move over but of course, I was stuck behind a car going 60 mph (that gets old). So I was behind this car for 5 SECONDS when... you got... the dreaded red and blue flashing in my rear view mirror. My first thought was, Why is he pulling me over? I haven't even been on the freeway long enough to speed. I wont lie or pretend I am innocent, I had every intention of getting in the fast lane and putting my cruise control at 79 mph all the way to springville, but I haven't even gotten to that part yet... So I was as far as this cops knowledge goes, I am innocent. So when Officer Sir (not his real name) came to my window and asked me why he pulled me over... I really wanted to say, "I don't know, I usually don't break to many laws the first 30 seconds on the freeway. Give me 5 minuets then I will come up with something." But I really had no idea so I played the dumb card. Well Officer Sir informed me that, "You changed lanes with out a full 2 SECONDS of signaling"... (crickets chirping) "and..." Officer Sir continues, "You did not put 2 SECONDS of distance between the car in front of you." I really didn't know quite what to say to that so I asked as politely as I can, "So I should count 2 SECONDS before switching lanes, AND also be counting 2 SECONDS between the distance of the car in front of me?" Officer Sir replies, "Yes miss, that IS the LAW." OH WELL thank HEAVENS you were here to make sure I was not a seconds SHORT!!!


Now if any of you kiss butts out there see the nice officers point, let me ask you this, How often do you track your distance between the car in front of you by counting the seconds? And How often do you count 2 seconds before switching lanes? Well I did count the rest of the way to my destination and I will tell you what, NO ONE take that much time to change lanes and NO ONE keeps that much distance between other cars. And for those of you who know the area I was in I was pulled over like 20 yards before the start of 800 north on ramp and there is like a mile MAX distance between 800 north and 1600 north, my point being, I was barley on the freeway long enough to even count! But I did get a ticket for following to close and failing to signal for two seconds! GO ME!

So in conclusions to my rant. Police officers are nice, just not to me. They are important to our community but I am a little bent out of shape right now at Officer Sir. And you better be counting One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, or they will GET YOU!
