Feels like Home to Me...

Home has a whole new meaning now...

It has been a long journey to get to this point. At times I thought maybe we were out of our reach but we just kept pressing on with out goal to get into a house because it felt like the right thing to do. There are more ups and downs in the past two years then I could begin to tell you but that's what it took for us to own a home and it was ALL worth it.
It's always at night when I think to take pictures... sorry, I will get a daytime one later

I am nothing but blessed. If you think my husband and I are making the big bucks... you would be fooling yourself, we are just really good savers and stay way out of debt but most of all we are blessed. I couldn't say enough about, things just happen for a reason and work out the way they are suppose to.  Nothing, until this house, worked out for us. It is almost like no matter how hard we tried and how many hoops we had to jump through, it just wasn't going our way.
The only reason we kept working toward owning a home is because it just felt right for too many reasons. We had to come the point where we said we would save all the money it took and we would do whatever we had to do, to make this happen and then, it happened. We walked through at least 100 houses and this was the one that fit all of our needs, our budget, and it felt like home. We had the smallest chance of getting this house due to the fact it was a short sell and we weren't the first offer but things work out the way they are suppose to. In the end, good things come to those who wait...

I will have to post more pictures in a few months when there is some actual progress with the decor but here are a few...

My Kitchen: for sure my favorite part of the house. There is nothing I would change about this kitchen, I LOVE IT!

Mud Room: Who would have thought that this room is SO important?! Well It's for sure a feature I love about this house!

Family room: The room looks all cramped in this picture and I don't feel like it does the room justice (it's small but not that small) but here is where we hang.

Fireplace: I could go on and on about how much I love this but the name just speaks for it's self.

The PLAN: My bro-in-law has some serious skills and is kind enough to put those skills to work in making us a beautiful mantle for the fireplace and a cabinet to go next to it to house all our electronic stuff. So more pics to come!

BEFORE:
Our Office:
As much as I love everything about this house, I didn't love the paint in a lot of the rooms. We repainted the office, 2 of the 3 kids rooms (we will do the nursery later), and our master bedroom. So you get to see some Before and Afters ;)

AFTER:
I love the moldings in this office but the blue color, I felt, was distracting from them. I picked out this mocha brown color because I love the richness it gives to the space but also really makes the moldings pop!

BEFORE:
 The Master Bedroom:
Love every thing about the layout of this room! It's where Brandon and I really feel like we are going to retreat to! So because of that I wanted a soothing cool tone. It's hard to tell in the picture because it's washed out but it's a grey-ish/tan.
The PLAN: Our bed frame is ordered and we are ANXIOUSLY awaiting it's arrival!!! When I get a second to breath I am refinishing our other bedroom furniture black to match the bed. We have lots of work to do to this room. More pics then too!

BEFORE:
My favorite part about our bedroom is this sitting area. You can't see it but there are a few stairs that go down into the sitting room.

 AFTER:
Keeping with the cool tones I painted just the sitting area a light, soft blue, that matched our pillows. Someday this will be my favorite spot in the house, once it's furnished;)
I will get some Before and After for the other bedrooms at some point.

 The Bathroom
The shower... the tub... it's just a little bit of heaven. I never knew HOW relaxing a tub is until I used this one. It's so comfy, I take a bath almost every night! The shower is great too ;)

Needless to say, we are loving having a home and being moved in and settled! We are starting on my salon hopefully no later then next week, and it should be done before the first of the year! I can't believe how blessed we feel to have had all the hard work pay off. It is such a dream come true to be able to work from home doing the two jobs I love most, being a mama and doing some hair! I can't wait to make a salon post... you are all invited to come see it for yourselves too when it done ;)

Now we just can't wait to make that first house payment... that might kill the dream a bit...lol!

Hey your house is beautiful. You probably don't remember me but we were in the same ward-aspen 9th. I found your blog through Chandi. So I saw that you are doing a salon and was wondering if you could do my hair. I always thought your hair was adorable so I would really like that, let me know!

This is so exciting for you Kylie! And not that it matters if I'm impressed that you've made so many smart money choices to get here but I'm impressed. Debt scares the snot out of me. Seeing you in such a great first house provides some light at the end of the tunnel for us getting out of our little basement apt someday... Yay!

I love all of your updates too, and I'm excited to see the final results!
