Not such a great start for 2011...

It all started the second I got pregnant... I lost my mind. Oh, ok, that may just be what I tell myself to feel better. Oh Kylie, this is just a temporary condition... your not really THAT dumb!

My sister Jamie was so kind to watch Irelyn for me while I went to my Doctor's appointment. When I came to get Irey I was in a hurry because I was meeting Brandon at the Nissan dealership to see if we wanted to trade in our car or sell it because we are getting a Murano and getting rid of the Altima. Well I went inside, gave Mia and snuggle and wrestled Irey out the door. When I came back outside to the driveway my car wasn't there. Yes, I left it running.... don't we all when it is bitter cold and we are running inside for just a second?! My first thought was, Oh my gosh, someone STOLE my CAR! Then I walked a little further and saw that my car wasn't stolen but parked in my sister's backyard, about 20 feet from where I had left it. So my next thought was, Some drunk stole my car and crashed it! How sad my little mind works. I was seriously scared that I would walk up to the car and find someone passed out in my drivers seat. OH no, I just saw a empty car that was left in drive when I could have sworn I put it in park... like I said, I am loosing my mind. So the car being somehow left in drive ended up driving through the fence gates and ripping out a post that goes 4 feet into the ground and finally crashed into the side of the fence where another post luckily had stopped it.

My car was pretty stuck agaisnt that fence, as you can imagine, and luckily Jamie's VERY SWEET neighbor, who fence I also crashed into, had a truck and was able to pull my sad little car to freedom! My very loving sister followed me the few blocks to my auto body shop. The owner came out laughing because he had just fixed the very bumper, that is now broken and mangled, a few months back. I will find out the extent of the damage tomorrow but to sum up, the car isn't totaled (I don't think) but the front bumper, lights, and right side fender are beyond repair.

Now looking on the bright side...
  • No one was in the car and no one got hurt.
  • There are not crazy drunks running around stealing your cars and crashing them
  • My sister was there and made me take pictures and laugh at the situation instead of crying. She even recorded me, making me give a play by play of what happened which helped me see it really was funny
  • My bro-in-law has a VERY good sense of humor and is very forgiving that I wrecked his fence!
  • We have insurance and a $500 deductible so luckily this wont be TOO costly
  • I have a VERY loving and understanding husband who just hugged me and said things happen for a reason and it could happen to anyone... he is a very good liar when I need him to be ;)
I will say that having gone through this too many times before to actually own up to, I can't help but feel a bit depressed. I was freaking taking my car to the dealer to get a better one for crying out loud! In the end, it is a funny story, one that I have already have had a good laugh at. I will really try to remain positive and shrug it off when people make their teasing remarks, haha!
Lets just say, bless my heart and hoping for a better 2011!!!

Kylie, I'm so sorry! You are totally okay with claiming pregnancy, because I always did. I can't tell you how many times I would put my car into drive when it was supposed to be in reverse to back out of my garage, or turn on the car and start to back out while the garage door was closed, all while I was prego. I am glad Jamie did what she did, because it can make you laugh. I also think it's awesome that you were able to focus on the positives of the situation. It's so nice that everyone was so supportive! Hopefully everything will work out with the car situation.

hang in there girl.... one day you will look back and laugh hysterically, maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually you will :) if it makes you feel better, murr has a habit of trying to leave the santa fe in drive and turn off the car.
